Book a transfer from Kathmandu to Pokhara — Nepal's lakeside adventure capital, a laid-back town on the shores of Phewa Lake with the snow-capped Annapurna Himalayas forming one of the most dramatic mountain backdrops on earth.
The 200 km journey takes 6 to 7 hours via the Prithvi Highway, winding through Nepal's middle hills along the Trisuli and Marsyangdi river valleys. The road passes through terraced hillsides, small Nepali towns, and increasingly dramatic mountain scenery, with occasional glimpses of snow-capped peaks ahead.
Pokhara is Nepal's adventure hub and the gateway to the Annapurna region. Phewa Lake reflects the 8,091-meter Annapurna massif and the iconic fishtail peak of Machhapuchhre in its still waters. The lakeside strip offers a relaxed backpacker atmosphere with restaurants, shops, and boat hire. Pokhara is the starting point for the Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp treks, and offers paragliding over the lake with Himalayan views, the World Peace Pagoda, Devi's Fall waterfall, the Gupteshwor Mahadev cave, and the International Mountain Museum. Sunrise from Sarangkot viewpoint — watching the first light hit the Annapurna range — is unforgettable.
