About Trogir
Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage gem — one of the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic towns in central Europe, built on a tiny island connected to the mainland and the island of Ciovo by bridges. The Cathedral of St. Lawrence features one of the finest Romanesque portals in Europe, carved by the master sculptor Radovan in 1240. The compact old town is a living museum of Venetian-era palaces, Romanesque churches, Renaissance loggias, and a 15th-century Kamerlengo Fortress offering panoramic views from its battlements. The waterfront Riva promenade is lined with cafes and restaurants serving fresh Dalmatian seafood, and the morning fish market by the bridge is a colorful local scene. Despite its small size, Trogir packs an extraordinary density of architectural treasures — the entire island has been under UNESCO protection since 1997. Its proximity to Split airport makes it a popular first or last stop on the Dalmatian coast.
