The Vieux Port leads to the pastel-colored old town (La Ponche), a maze of lanes with art galleries, boutiques, and the Musée de l'Annonciade (an exceptional modern art collection including Matisse, Signac, and Bonnard). The Citadelle above town offers panoramic views over the bay. The legendary Pampelonne Beach stretches for 5 km south of town, home to the famous Club 55, Nikki Beach, and other legendary beach clubs. The twice-weekly Place des Lices market (Tuesday and Saturday) is one of Provence's finest, and the boules games under the plane trees are a timeless scene.
