About Sigiriya
Sigiriya (Lion Rock) is a 5th-century rock fortress and palace built by King Kashyapa atop a 200-meter granite monolith. The climb passes through water gardens, the famous frescoes of celestial maidens, the Mirror Wall with ancient graffiti, and the massive Lion Paws gateway before reaching the summit palace ruins with 360-degree views across endless jungle. Combined with nearby Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, and Anuradhapura, it forms Sri Lanka's extraordinary Cultural Triangle.
